when a number divided by 357 gives remainder 5.what will be remainder if the same no is divided by 17?

• use the simple formula
  dividend =divisor*quotient +rem
  let the number be n,
  n=357*q1+5
  similarly for
  n=17*q2 + R {R is the remainder ,which is to be founded }
  on equating we get
  17*q2 + R = 357*q1 +5
  therefore R = 17*21*q1 +5 -17 *q2
  = 17(21*q1 -q2) +5
  so Remainder = 5
