8. The Municipal Corporation’s water pipeline being very old, has seepage problem which is obviously more in summer. In winter, when the seepage each day is 4% of the day’s supply a tank, full of water, lasts for 16 days. In summer when the seepage each day is 10% of the day’s supply, for how many days does a tankful of water lasts?
Read Solution (Total 4)
-
- if 4% leakage then 16 days
so 1%..............16×4%days
so 10%..............(16×4)/10=32/5 days - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(9)
- if the water waste is 4% in winter ie used 96% so for one day its is 16/96
and in summer the waste is 10% ie used only 90%
so the water lasts in summer is (16/96)*90
i.e 15 days

- 4% seepage in 16 days. Which means the total seepage is 4*16 = 64% of the tank.
Therefore, when seepage is 10% the tank will last 64/10 = 6.4 days - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(9)
- 4% seepage ->16 days required to empty water
10% seepage ->( 4*16)/10=6.4 days ans - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
