- Answer is Rs 240
Putting the problem in the form of equation .
Assume the fixed charge for travel is x and variable to be y
so for travelling 16 km the total cost is x + 16y = 156 .. equation 1
and for travelling 24 km the cost is x + 24y = 204 ..... equation 2
from equation 1 we can derive that x = 156 - 16y ... equation 3
putting equation 3 in 2 we get
156 - 16y + 24y = 204 or 8y = 48 or y = 6
putting y = 6 in eqation 3 we get x = 156-96 or x = 60
So now the fixed cost is 60 and variable cost is 6
for traveling 30 kms the cost would be Rs 60 + (30 x 6) = Rs 240

- let the fixed cost is X.
the charge per 1km is Y
then the two eqn are X+16Y=156
X+24Y=204
solving these 2 eqns we will get y=6
and X=60
so per 3okm the ans is 240 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 240 = 60+ 30*6

- Shortcut:
Find the difference between charge and kilometers separately.
204-156=48 Rupees
24-16=8 K.m.
From the above facts, if it is 48 rupees for 8 km.
Then it will be 36 rupees for 6 km.
So 204 rupees for 24 km and for additional 6 km it will be 36 rupees.
sof for 30 k.m. it will be 204+36=240.
Think logically.
No need of formulas.
