  cost paid for shoestings = x^2,
  pins = 16 * (x^2)
  handkerchiefs = 64 * (x^2)
  total amount = 3.24rs = 324 paise(because with rs value of x will be in fraction which is not possible).
  each item is paid with their count as each piece's cost,therfore :
  x^2 + 16 *(x^2) + 64 * (x^2)=324
  solving which value of x=2;
  therefore handkerchiefs= 16.

• it might be 324 rs,let x shoestings she bought,then pins will be 4x,handkerchiefs will be 8x,as given cost is same as number so total cost will be x^2+(4x)^2+(8x)^2=324
  81x^2=324,x^2=4 =>x=2 ,kerchiefs=16
