- i think the answer is 5.
when n is divided by 5, let the quotient be q. then n = 5q + 4.
in the second part of the question the asked the remainder when 5 is divided by 2n..
that means 5/2n..
5/2n = 5/(10q + 8).
when 5 is divided by (10q + 8) then the remainder is 5 because the denominator is more than numerator so when 5 is divided by a number more than 5 the remainder is 5 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(24) No(8)
- n=5*x+4
so, 2*(n)/5=(10*x+8)/5
10*x divided by 5
when 8 divided by 5 then remainder is 3.
so answer is (d)3. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(6)
- i guess the last part of the question needs to be reversed.
n=5k+4
so,2n=10k+8=5(2k+1)+3
therefore when 2n is divided 5 leaves 3 as remainder. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(1)
- here n=5k+4
multiplying both sides by 2,
2n=2(5k+4)
=10k+8
=10k+5+3
=5(2k+1)+3
so here remainder is 3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(1)
- Thanku sindhu..but then the question was this itself..am sure..i couldnt solve it..may b a mistake wit the qn..

- n is divided by 5.let the quotient be x.remainder is 4.
then n=5x+4.
2n=10x+8
=(10x+5)+3
10x+5 is divisible by 5. hence remainder is 3. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- 3 if n=9 we get remainder as4.. similarly we 2n=18. it is divided by 5 we get 3..
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- n=5*x+4
2n=2*5*x+2*4
2n=10*x+8
2n=5(2*x+1)+3
so the reminder is 3. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- acc. to the question n/5=5*x=4
so n=25x+20
now divide 5/2n=>5/2(25x+20)
=>5/50x+40
=>5/5(10x+8)
=>1/(10x+8)
so 1/8 then the remainder is 1

- let us n=9 divides by 5 gives 4 as remainder
when 2n=18 divides by 5 gives 3 as remainder
so answ is 3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- ans is 3...optio d

- let n=24 so it leaves remainder 4 when divided by 5
then 2n=48 when 48 divided by 5 it leaves remainder 3
any other examples which leaves 4 as remainder are accepted - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- say n=9
then
2*9=18/5
remainder is 3
so my ans is 3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)

- let n=29 so it leaves remainder 4 when divided by 5
then 2n=58 when 58 divided by 5 it leaves remainder 3
any other examples which leaves 4 as remainder are accepted - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Is this a dummy question?. I guess this question is wrong.when 5 is diveided by 2n , we get the remainder 5. please friends solve this and make it clear.
- 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- here n=5x+4
2n=10x+8/5
if we divide 8 by 5 the remainder is 3 ans - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- lets take n=24 as example if 24 is divided by 5 it leaves 4 as remainder....
then 2n=2*24=> 48 it leaves 3 as remainder so ANS is 3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- n=5*x+4
2n=2*5*x+2*4
2n=10*x+8
2n=5(2*x+1)+3
so the reminder is 3. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- the no is of the pattern 5x+4=n
2n= 10x+8
=10x+5+3
=5(2x+1) +3
hence the remainder is 3 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
