- suppose if you consider the distance between hyderbad and basar 360 then they will meet after x min so
360=(160*x)+(20*x)
x=2hours
then train1 travelled 320 km from basar towards Hyderabad i.e it is 40 km away from Hyderabad.then train2 travelled 40km away from Hyderabad then it is 40km away from Hyderabad so both are at same distance from Hyderabad. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(21) No(4)
- when the two trains will meet at a certain point of distance then the front end of both the trains will coincide hence will be considered as a common point and the distance from that common point to any point will be equal. whetther the distance is measured from hyderabad to the point of meeting or the distance is measured from basar to the point of meeting.

- the train having speed 20kmph will be near to the Hyderabad.....because meeting takes place at (L/9)from Hyderabad.....
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- No need to solve the quesition as at the meeting time both the train will have equal distances from both the stations.

- let the bridge be L miles long. Let Anoop run v miles per hour.
Hence by the time Anoop runs to EITHER END of the railroad bridge, the train just comes to the SAME end of the bridge.
1) Anoop runs L - 5L/6 = L/6 distance, to the nearer end of the bridge.
The train has to run through the distance x.
frac{L/6}{v} = frac{x}{35} => v = frac{35 L}{6 x}, - equation 1
2) Anoop runs 5L/6 to the farther end of the bridge.
frac{L+x}{35} = frac{5L/6}{v}, => v = frac{35*5 L}{6 (L+x)}, - equation 2
divide equation 2 by equation 1 =>
1 = frac{5 x}{L+x}, => L + x = 5 x, L=4 x, - equation3
substitute in equation 1,
v = frac{35 * 4 x}{6 * x} = frac{140}{6} = 23.66 mph\
Anoop can run at 23.66 mph
