Q. There is a 25 inch cube painted on all sides. This is cut down into of 5 inch cubes. What is the no of cubes which have no pointed sides

  and for cube first u need to fine N
  N=(n)^(1/3)
  now formulaes are
  3 sided color=8
  2 sided color=12(N-2)
  1 sided color=6(N-2)^2
  no sided color=(N-2)^3
  given that 25 inch cube and cutted into 5 inch cubes so
  no of cubes formed n=5^3
  now N=(5^3)^(1/3)
  N=5
  now question asked to find is no painted cubes
  so (N-2)^3
  (5-2)^3=27

• dividing a cube yields totally 125 derived cubes.
  corner cubes =4+4=8,
  edged cubes=(3+3+3+3)*3=36,
  facial cubes=9+9+9+9+9+9=54,
  
  so painted cubes= 8+36+54=98,
  
  remaining unpainted=125-98=27.

• total no.of cubes of 5 inch =25
  number of painted cubes=16
  25-16=9
  no. of cubes which have no paint are 9

• there will have total 125 cubes if we cut with 5unit cubes each and the painted cubes among all would be (5X5)+(5X5)+(3X5X2)+2=82. so the unpainted cubes would be 125-82=43
