Q. Two men arrived at the airport with 64 and 20 bottles of wine respectively. For paying custom duty first one give 40 francs and 5 bottles of wine. second one give 2 bottles of wine and in return he got 40 francs .so,what the price of each bottle of wine and also what the duty for each bottle?

• price of each bottle of wine = 120 frans
  and
  the duty for each bottle = 10 francs
  If x francs is price of each bottle and y francs is custom duty on each bottle, then
  64y= 40+5x
  20y=2x-40
  solving these eqns, we get
  x=120 francs, y= 10 francs

  If Duty/bottle=x francs, Price/bottle=y francs, then
  Total duty for 64 bottles=64x=5y+40 or 64x-5y=40 ---(i) &
  Total duty for 20 bottles=20x=2y-40 or 20x-2y=-40 ---(ii)
  Solving (i) & (ii), x=10, y=120
