- ans. is 96%.
so how..
let, list price be x.
-->first, SP= 80% of list price. //for discount of 20%.
SP=80/100*x = 4/5*x.
-->second, as said gained 20% on SP, so 120% of SP.
120/100*SP = 120/100*4/5*x = 24/25*x.
-->third, % is SP of the list price.
so, (24/25*x*100)% = 96%.

- let us take list price =x
cp=80%(x)
sp=120%(80%)x
then it is 96% - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(1)
- SP is 96% of initial list price and 80% of new marked price

- 66.67% of the list price.
Let list price is x
So he sold it at 80x/100
Let sp is y
120y/100 = 80x/100
Y = 2x/3
2x/3x ×100 = 66.67% - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(4)
- Let the list price be Rs 100/-. Then the shopkeeper purchases it at a discount of 20%, i.e., 100- 20= 80/-
Hence Rs 80 will be the Cost Price (C P) for the shopkeeper. Now he marks up the article's price in such a way that even after giving 20% discount he still makes a profit of 20% on the new selling price.
S.P = C.P + Profit + Discount
S.P= C.P + 20% of S.P + 20% of S P
S.P = C.P + 40% of S.P
S.P - 40% of S.P = C.P
60% of S.P = C.P
60/100 S.P= C.P
S.P= 80/0.6 = Rs 133.34
% of SP to list price= 133.34/ 100 = 133.34.%
(Verification:- SP= 133.34, discount 20% of SP=133.34 * 20/100 = Rs 26.66
New selling price= 133.34-26.66 = 106.68
Profit = New SP - C P = 106.68 - 80 = 26.68/-
%profit on marked up selling price = profit/ marked SP = 26.68/133.34 * 100 = 20% ) - 7 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
