Time Distance and Speed
It takes a train to travel 45min from A to B. when the speed of the train is reduced to by 5kmph the new time taken is 48min. what is the distance between A and B.
options
1.60 2.65 3.70 4.80

- distance(A to B) = 45/60*x
after speed reduction d = 48/60*(x-5)
45/60*x = 48/60*(x-5)
x = 80kph
distance = 80*45/60= 60 ANS. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(40) No(1)
- let distance between A and B be x km then
speed of train = x/(45/60)= 4x/3 km/h
after reducing speed by 5km/h,time taken by train
x/(4x/3 -5)= 48/60
=> 60x=64x-48*5
=> 4x=48*5
=> x=60 km - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(1)
- Let distance =d as speed= distnce/time
so
60d/45 - 60d/48 = 5
ans=60km

- v1=d/45 and v-5 = d/48 . solving it we get 80kph

- ans 1)-60
assume the distance=x km and speed=y kmph
x/y=45/60 y=4x/3,
and new speed x/y-5=48/60=4/5
5x=4y-20
now after putting the value of y=4x/3 in this equation, we get-
5x=16x/3-20
on solving- x =60kmph

- old time : 45 mins=45/60hr and speed =x
new time :48 mins=48/60hr and speed=x-5
since the distance is same, equating the distance in both cases:D=T*S
4560*x=48/60*(x-5)
solving above equ we get x=80 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(6)
- 80kmph
3x/4=4x/5-5
x=80km - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(4)
- here distance d is same,and speed1 as s after reduction speed2 as (s-5)
so s1t1=s2t2 then
s(45/60)=(s-5)(48/60)
3s=240
s=80
distance=speed*time
d=80*(45/60)
d=60km

- Answer will be 60 km/h.
A__________B
let speed is x km/h.
we know s=v*t
45 min=3/4 h and 48 min=4/5 h.
for the first time,s=x*(3/4)km
and second time speed is x-5 km/h
so, s=(x-5)*(4/5)km
now, comparing these x=80km/h
hence s=80*3/4=60km - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- let distance bw A AND B is x;
and speed at initial be a;
so x/a=3/4 and x/(a-5)=4/5;
taking l.c.m of numerator of both got value 12;
one will be 12/16 and other 12/15;
since, denominator diff. is 5 so multiply both the term by 5 we will get x=60; - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
