There are 9 baskets with pebbles in it.Every basket have pebbles weighing 1gm except one which has pebbles weighing 2gm.There is a weighing machine. Use the weighing machine only once and find which basket have pebbles that weigh 2gm

• Take 1 pebble form 1st basket, 2 from 2nd, 3 from 3rd,...9 from the 9th basket and weigh them. If all the baskets contained 1gm pebbles the weight would have been 45 [ 1+2+3+..9 = 45]
  
  Since 1 of the basket contains 2 gm pebbles the weight will be more than 45.
  Subtract 45 from the weight to get the basket number.
  
  ie
  if the weight is 49
  49 - 45 = 4
  4th basket
  
  Likewise if x is the obtained weight
  (x-45) is the basket number

• choose 1 pebbles from 1st basket.
  choose 2 pebbles from 2nd basket.
  choose 3 pebbles from 3rd basket.
  .
  .
  .
  and so on.
  choose 9 pebbles from 9th basket.
  put all in weight machine.
  weight should be 9kg.
  if weight will be 2kg extra then in 1st bucket 2 kg pebble.
  if weight will be 4kg extra then in 2nd bucket 2 kg pebble.
  if weight will be 6kg extra then in 3st bucket 2 kg pebble.
  if weight will be 8kg extra then in 4th bucket 2 kg pebble.
  and so on.
  if weight will be 18kg extra then in 9th bucket 2 kg pebble.

• first make three group with each group containing 3 pebbles.compare weigh of 1st and 2nd group if they r equal.then compare 2nd and 3rd and select the group based on weighing.after identifying group it became easy to compare 1st and 2nd pebbles.if they r equal then compere 2nd and 3rd pubbles.then finally we r able to get our final result.

• 1 basket =1gm
  hence 9basket =9gm
  but the condition is 1 basket alone have =2gm
  therefore total is 10gm
  while collecting pebbles from all basket and weighing ,since 1 gm was found to be in excess it was found out that 1st basket was the basket containing 2gm of pebbles.

• if u take 1 pebbel frm frst basket then 2gm peble may be in the remaing of 1st basket......... then wat is the process??? pls give explanatn........

• Keep placing baskets on the machine. When the basket having pebbles weighing 2gm is placed, you can find it out from the display.
