given three points P,Q,R WITH P(5,3) and R lies on x-axis.if equation of RQ is x-2y=2 and PQ is parallel to x-axis then the centroid of triangle PQR lies on the line
Read Solution (Total 3)

- (5,2)
P (5,3)
equation of RQ is
x - 2y = 2
Given R lies on x-axis. So at point R y co-ordinate is 0
x - 2*0 = 2
x = 2
R (2,0)
PQ is parallel to x axis
===> y co-ordinate of Q and P are same. ie 3
From equation of RQ
x - 2*3 = 2
x = 8
Q (8,3)
Centroid = ((x1+x2+x3)/3 , (y1+y2+y3)/3 )
=((5+2+8)/3 , (3+0+3)/3)
=(5,2)

- the centroid can lie on any line bcuz infinite lines (ex. y=2 or x=5 and so on)can cross through a point in this case the centroid is at(5,2).
