In a group of buffaloes and ducks, the number of legs are 24 more than twice the number of heads. What is the number of buffaloes in the group?

• let no. of buffaloes be x & no. of ducks be y
  
  buffaloes have 4 legs while ducks have 2
  
  4x + 2y = 2*(x + y) + 24
  
  => 4x + 2y - 2x - 2y = 24
  
  => x = 12

  As we know buffaloes have 4 legs and ducks have 2 legs, so we can write
  4x+2y
  and as the question states the legs are twice + 24 than the heads.

  acc. to quest. eq is 2(x+y)+24
  equating those we get x=12
