Algebra
Find two consecutive odd integers such that the square of the first, added to 3 times the second, is 24.
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- Let x, (x+2) be the 2 odd integers
x^2 + 3(x+2) = 24
x^2 + 3x + 6 = 24
x^2 + 3x - 18 = 0
(x+6) ( x-3) = 0
x=-6 or x=3
Given both are odd numbers
So x=3, (x+2)= 5
So the 2 consecutive odd no's are 3,5
