We have an Iron Bucket whose weight increases 16.667% when we filled it 50% with water. The weight of water is a Whole Number. Find the Weight of the Bucket.
Options:
A) 20
B) 21
C) 18
D) 27

- Increase of 16.667% means, increased weight is:
(1/6)*x + x //where 'x' weight of bucket
// (1/6)*x is the weight is 50% water
Now as question says weight of water is a whole number, meaning(1/6)*x is a whole number.
Only option 'C' that is '18' is divisible by '6'.
So answer is 18 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(22) No(2)
- 18.
wt of bucket with 50% water = 18+18*16.667/100= 18+18/6= 21 units
wt of water = 3 units which is whole number. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(2)
- Suppose weight of water is ww,weight of bucket wb and weight of whole bucket is wt.
16.667% could be 50/300(assume)
since,
ww+wb=wt..........(1)
and
wb+(ww+1/2ww)=wt+wt*50/300.....(2)(when water is incremented by 50%,weight of whole bucket increases by 50/300 or 16.667%)
on solving 1 and 2 we have
ww/wt=1/3, which means ww occupies 1/3 of total weight and also a whole no.,and 2/3 of weight is occupied by weight of bucket.
Now, from checking options if we take 18 as wb,then ww will be 9(which is a whole no.).this is the only possible option.
So ans will weight of water is 9 and weight of bucket is 18. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(2)
- @Atul Kumar: Read question properly, it does not say 50% of water.
It says, ""bucket is filled 50% with water"".
And weight of this water is a whole number. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- I Think so, 18 is the Correct Answer.

- checking through options...
suppose weight of bucket is 18 mow checking for conditions
18+18*16.67/100=21
wt of water=50*18/100=9 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(3)
- c- 18 given weight of water is whole no. => weight of bucket*(1/6) = whole no.
so weight of bucket is multiple of 6 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- bhai, mana ki weight of water whole number hai, lekin 50% of weight of water bhi whole number ho ,aisa to jaroori nahi hai
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- 16.667% = 50% of water
whole number will be formed by 16.667 if we multiply it by 3(atleast) , so therefore 16.667 counts for 3 . like this 116.67 will be 21(bucket + water).
therefore bucket weight 21-3 = 18 units - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Answer is 18

- HEY guys i have a question which is same like this but if i m doing this with that same method its wrong so tell if both are same so why not answer is coming
ques is
The weight of an iron bucket increase by 33.33% when filled with water to 50% of its capacity.which of these may be 50% of the weight of the bucket when it is filed with water(assume the weight of bucket and its capacity is in kg) - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 18 is correct
