Time Distance and Speed
There are 2 men A and B both started running in a circular park but a in clockwise and b in anti clockwise direction a completes a circle of 1 km in 4 min they both run for 45 min find how much faster should b run so that they meet 24 times on their way
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- a's spped- 250meter/min
net speed=250+b(b's speed, both moving in opp direction)
total dist covered in 45 min by them= (250+b)*45
as they meet 24 times thus dist covered by them= 24*1000(length of circular park)
equate both (250+b)*45=24000
b=(850/3) meter/min convert it to km/hr
ans is 17 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(27) No(1)
- to meet 24 time they must cover distance of 24km i.e. distance covered by A + distance covered by B =24 km.
A completes 1km in 4 min, speed of A = 15kmph.
in 45 min A runs 11.25km.
B have to run 24-11.25= 12.75km.
we know B runs for 45 min.
so speed of B is 17kmph. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(15) No(1)
- Answer is 17
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(2)
- speed of A: 1/(4/60)= 15 km/h
distance covered by A in 45 min=11.25 km
means that A covers 11 round and 0.25 km from starting in clockwise direction
So, at the 24th meet B needs to cover 0.75 km in anticlockwise direction from starting point.
Using options
A/c Option A speed of B is 225 km/hr.
A/c Option B speed of B is 180 km/hr
A/c Option C speed of B is 255 km/hr
A/c Option D speed of B is 270 km/hr
If we will use option A, distance covered by B = 255*45/60 = 168.75
means that B covers 168 rounds and 0.75 km from starting point anticlockwise direction
So, option A is correct = 15. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(7)
- Given here parameter of circle = 1 km && They meet 24 times so conclusion of this -->they r running the circle 24 times ... Suppose B take x min to round the 24 times so Equation of this is 45/x = 24 so got x=1.875 min so Speed of B is 1km/1.875min --> 1*60/1.875(change min to hr.)--> B's speed 32kmph.
A's speed = 1*60/4--> 15kmph.
how much faster should B run = 32-15 = 17kmph faster - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)

2. In 2013,
3,00,000 students passed out, one of every three given eLitmus exam. Out of those top 5% (say, x) got an interview call. In 2014, it is expected that total student will passout will be 40% more than that of 2013 and one of every two student will give the eLitmus exam. Out of those top 5% (say, y) will get an interview call. Find the value of (y - x) ?
