Time Distance and Speed
A man decided to cover a distance of 80km in 8 hrs. He can walk at a speed of 6 km/hr and cycle at 8 km/hr successively. How long will he walk and how long will he cycle ?
Read Solution (Total 14)
-
- as speed in 80km/8hrs=10 km/hr
as ques solve through mixture and alligation method
6 km/hr and 8km/hr
10km/hr
10-8 10-6
2km/hr 4km/hr
so the ratio is 1:2
ahd we have to find the distance through walk and through cycle
1/3*80=26.6km
2/3*80=53.3km
this is the ans. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(35) No(22)
- this question is wrong because.....
if he want to travel 80 km in 8 hrs i.e(of speed 10 km/ph) ...for this he travel certain distance with speed 6 km/ph them to cover the distance in specified time his next speed must be greater than 10 i.e(80/8) km/ph.....

- total time given 8 hrs...
cycle distance:X,walk:(80-X)
total time:X/8..+ (80-X)/6=8
X=128,
so the time required to cover the distance by cycle=128/8=====16 hr

- Let walking distance= X km
And cycling distance=Y km
So, X+Y=80km-------eqn 1
y=80-x ......eqn 2
And
Time = dis/speed
8= X/6 + y/8 ----/- eqn 3
put value of y in equ 3
after solving....
x= 48 nd y= 32

- speed=80/8=10km/h
we can solve by mixture and allegation
10-6=4 & 10-8=2 km/h
so ratio is 2/4 i.e 1:2
distance through walk=80*1/3=26.6km
distance through cycle=80-26.6=53.4km or 80*2/3=53.3km

- ans 24 km by walk
32 km by cycle
bcz he is asking how long he can.
so for every two hrs he can travel
walk + cycle
6+8 for 2 hrs
6+8 for 2hrs
6+8 for 2hrs
6+8 for 2hrs total 8hrs complt
at this times total four 6kms and 4 8kms - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(2)
- f+c=80----->1
f/6+c/8=8 (i.e total 80 km covered in 8 hrs)
2f+c=128------>2
solve 1 and 2
f=48
c=32 - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
