- b)50min
Taxi travelled 10 minute less towards station and for 10 min away from station..
so taxi met the man at 2:50 PM.
so the man walked for 50 minutes. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- Either A or B....infact, it can be any value greater than 40 minutes and less than or equal to 60.
The time depends on the average speed of the walker and the average speed of the taxi. We have to assume that he won't call the cab any later than 3:00pm. We also have to assume that the man calls the taxi to pick him up at his current location.
Then, if the man walked a neglegable distance compared to the distance of the route, the cab would have needed to pick him up approximately 20 minutes early(note: must be less than 20 minutes because he walked some distance thus making the total distance marginally shorter for the cab).
If the man walked for an hour and covered a distance equal to 20 minutes by car, then he could have been picked up at 3:00 and still arrived 20 minutes early due to the shorter trip.
If the speeds of the car and person are known the calculation would be fairly straight foreward. But without it you can only say that the time is 60=>Time walking>40.
A: 45 min means he saved 5 minutes driving time by walking and called the taxi 15 min early
B:50 min means he saved 10 minuted driving time by walking and called the taxi 10 minutes early
