Three numbers are in G.P. Their sum is 19 and the last number is 9.Find the middle term.

• a+ar+ar^2=19.
  ar^2=9.
  now substitute a=9/(r^2) in the 1st equation.
  so,
  9/(r^2)+r*9/(r^2)+r^2*9/(r^2)=19.
  now solve
  10r^2-9r-9=0
  r is positive so r=3/2
  and
  then substitute in 2nd equation to get a
