216 parts means.6*6*6 cubes ie 36 parts per layer and total of 6 layers.2nd,4th 6th blacked means 3rd 5th layers are blacked on two sides so only 1st layer is one side

bcz by removing 2nd,4th and 6th layers the 3rd layer is also coated on both sides remaining 1st and 5th layers are colored one side.36*2=72
