Maths Puzzle
Your teacher has a total of 36 chalks. When a chalk reduces to 1/6 of its original size, it gets too small for her to hold for writing and hence she keeps it aside. But your teacher hates wasting things and so, when she realizes that she has enough of these small pieces to join and make another chalk of the same size, she joins them and uses the new chalkstick. If she uses one chalk each day, how many days would the 36 chalks last?
Read Solution (Total 2)

- Ans 42 Days
If 1 chalk is used for 1 days, remaining chalk for 1 day=1/6
So after 6 days another chalk of same size can be made
Therefore 6 chalks will last for 7 days and
36 chalks will last for 36*7/6=42 Days - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- ANS:: 42 days
soln:: as there are 36 chalks,it means they will be used in 36 days.
But every chalk leaves 1/6 of its part
so out of 36 chalks left out chalks will be: 36*(1/6)=6
so total no of day : 36+6=42 days
