If A, B and C are the mechanisms used separately to reduce the wastage of fuel by 30%, 20% and 10%. What will be the fuel economy if they were used combined.

- : Consider the 100 lt fuel in 3 different containers. After applying the mechanisms, the fuel left in 3 containers is 70lt, 80lt and 90lt. Total fuel taken = 300lts. Fuel left after applying mechanism = 240lt. fuel saved = 60. % saving = (60/300)*100 = 20%

- If x is initial fuel consumption
Fuel consumed after using three mechanisms = 0.7*0.8*0.9 = 0.504 x
Fuel saved is 1-0.504 = 0.496 x
so 49.6% fuel economy is achieved. - 12 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(16)
- ok let us suppose 100 kg of fuel is being wasted.. if i use the A then 30 kg will be saved n 70 kg will be wasted. now if i bring in B it will save 40% of 70 n (70*0.6)=42 kg will be wasted. Now if i incorporate C then it will save 10%of 42 i.e..,(42*0.9) 37.8 kg will be wasted... so 100-37.8=62.2 kg will be saved.. so ans is 62.2%
