Infosys Company Numerical Ability Age Problem

When you reverse the digits of age of father u will get the age of son. One year ago the age of father was twice that of son's age. What are the current ages of father and son?

Current Father age = 73; Son's age = 37

Let, f = father's age and s = son's age.

f = 10a + b
s = a + 10b;
f - 1 = 2(s - 1) so
f = 2s - 2 + 1
(ie)f = 2s - 1

Therefore,
10a + b = 2a + 20b - 1
8a = 19b - 1, making a = 7 and b = 3.

So Father is 73 and son is 37. (Last year f = 72, s = 36)
