Time Distance and Speed
ratio between the speeds of two trains is5:3. if the first train runs 35 km in 2hr. then what is the speed of the second train ?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- 10.5 km/hr
If the speeds of the 1st & 2nd trains are 5x & 3x respectively
Speed of the 1st train in km/hr=35/2
As 5x=35/2, so 3x= 3x*(35/2)/5x=21/2=10.5 km/hr - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- let ratio of speed of first ad second train =5x:3x
first tran run 35 km in 2 hours .then it will run 35/2 km in 1 hr.
according to question..
5x=35/2
=> 3x= 3x*(35/2)/5x
=10.5 km/hr

- first train speed in one hour = 35/2= 17.5
according to given ratio, 5 parts = 17.5
1 part = 17.5/2= 3.5
3parts i.e second train speed= 3.5*3= 10.5 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
- Ans: 10.5 km/hr
Reason: Given that, c1/c2 = 5/3 ------ (1)
Also, c1 = 17.5 km/hr
Putting the value of c1 in (1) and solving for c2 we get the required answer. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Let two speeds be 5x and 3x km/hr. As 5x km/hr =35/2 km/hr => x = 7/2 =3.5 then Speed 2 =3* 3.5
=105/10= 10.5 km/hr. - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- given d1=35km and t1=2hr and s1=5x and s2=3x
s1=d1/t1
x=35/10=3.5km/hr
s1=5x=5*3.5=15.5km/hr
s2=3x=3*3.5=10.5km/hr
