Averages
In a class exactly 10% students get 70 marks, exactly 25% get 80 marks, exactly 15% get 85 marks, exactly 25% get 90 marks and remaining get 95 marks.what is the minimum number of students in the class if the avg. of sum of marks is an even no.
option A)20 B)80 C)100 D)200
Read Solution (Total 9)
-
- A)20
10% of 20=2, 2*70=140
25% of 20=5, 5*80=400
15%of 20=3, 3*85=255
25% 0f 20=5, 5*90=450
remaining students= (20-(2+5+3+5))=5
5*95=475
avg.= 140+400+255+450+475=1720/20 =86
reply if i m wrong - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(4)
- Let total no. of students be x
(x(10*70 + 25*80 + 15*85 + 25* 90 + 25*90)/100)/ x = 86
Hence the avg is always 86 and does not depend upon the no. of students.
Hence the answer is the minimum value that is 20 - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(4)

- correct answer is 80
suppose total student in a class is 100
so 10 percent of 100=10
so toatal marks =10*70=700
now 25 percent of 90=22.5
total=22.5*80=1800
calculate this way and take the avg u got the answer
