A tank has a leak which would empty it in 4 hrs. A tap is turned on which admits 6 liters a minutes into the tank, and it is now emptied in 10 hrs. How many liters does the tank hold?

• Lets assume it can hold x lit.
  The hole empties it in 4 hours ----> rate of emptying = x/4 lit /hr
  The filling rate of the tap =6 lit/min = 360 lit/hr
  Therefore with both the hole and the tap in action, in one hour the tank gets emptied by (x/4 -360) lit/hr
  In this rate it takes 10 hours to get emptied completely.
  (x/4-360)*10 =x ----> 3x/2 = 3600 ---> x= 2400 lit.
  The capacity of the tank is = 2400 lit
