- First clearly understand the question..the question expects "how many times the father's age would be of his son roy's age"..
let F=father S=son
condition 1- F=3S
condition 2- F+8=2.5(S+8)
substitute condition 1 in condition 2
we get 3S+8=2.5S+20
after derivation we get F=72 , S=24
Then the expected value is F's age in multiples of S's
then simply derive the values after 16 years (8+8)
then father age would be 88 years and son's age would be 40 years
Now divide father's age by son's age we get 88/40=2.2
thus father's age is 2.2 times of son's age after 16 years (8+8) - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(26) No(1)
- let son present age=x
fatger=3x
after 8yrs
3x+8=2.5(x+8)
x=24 son age
father=72
after further 8 yrs i.e. 16 yrs fathers age =72+16=88 - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(21) No(14)
- let son present age=x
fatger=3x
after 8yrs
3x+8=2.5(x+8)
x=24 son age
father=72
after further 8 yrs i.e. 16 yrs fathers age =72+16=88
after further 8 yrs i.e. 16 yrs son age =24+16=40
father age would be 40/88 times than roy's age.
i.e. 5/11 (Ans) - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(10) No(1)

- let Roy's age be x
so father's age=3x
now as per ques
2.5x when x+8
so .5x =8
x=16
when roy 32 father will be 48+16=64 which is twice - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(5)
- Father Roy
3x+x=4x ----------------------- ----- x
(5(x+8)/2)=4x+8 ----------------------- x+8
x=8
so after further 8 years
roy=8+8+8=24
father=(4*8)+8+8=48
so father is two times of roy - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(1)
- Roy father
x 3x - - - - present
x+8 5/2(x+8) - - - - after 8 years
So,
3x+8 = 5/2(x+8)
Solve,
x=24. - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(1)
- Let's consider current age of father and Roy is f,r.
F is three times more than Roy.
F=3R -------(1)
After 8 years, he would be two and a half times of Roy's age.
F+8=2+1/2(R+8)
F+8=5/2(R+8) ---------(2)
Supstitute (1) in (2)
3R+8=5/2(R+8)
6R+16=54+40
R=24,F=72.
Initially 8 years after and further after 8 years totally 16 years.
So, R+16,F+16
R=40 ,F=88.
So totally 88/40=2.2
2.2 times would be Roy's age - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- son present age=x and father=3x
After 8years son edges=x+8 and father edges=x+8
=>3x+8=5/2(x+8)
=x=24 son age
father=72
after further 8 yrs i.e. 16 yrs fathers age =72+16=88 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
- let age of Roy is x and father will be 3x.
after 8 years age of Roy will be x+8 and father is 2.5(x+8).
so, 3x-2.5(x+8)=8 => x=24.
Roy is 24 years and father is 72.
After further 8 years Roy is 40 and father is 88.
i.e, 2.2 times of Roy's age. - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- Present age of Son=S yrs
Present Age of father=F yrs.
Now, F=3S ......(1)
and F+8=2.5(S+8).....(2)
Solving, S=24 and F=72 Yrs.
Adding 16 yrs, F+16/S+16= 88/40= 2.2.
Correct Answer:2.2 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- let roy age be R
and father's age be F
then // father age is three times roy age //
so F=3R ----------(1)
NOW , // after 8 years //
father age = F+8
roy age = R+8
AND father is 5/2 times of roy age
so (F+8) = 2.5 (R+8) --------- (2)
from eqn (1) and (2)
we get
F = 72 years and R= 24 years
// further 8 years //
father age is F = 80 years
and
roy age be R= 32 years
so father is [ 80/32 times = 5/2 times] or 2.5 times be of Roys age - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- Son=x
Father=3x+x=4x
After 8 yrs..
4x+8=5/2(x+8)
8x+16= 5x+40
3x=24
X=8
Now son age= x+8=16
Father age=4x+8=32+8=48
As asked in the que. After further 8 yrs so..
Sons age=16+8=24
So father would be 2 times the age of his son - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)

- Assume that, present age of Roy be x.
Father age will be 3x.
After 8 years Roy age will be x+8 and father age will be 2.5(x+8).
There fore 3x-2.5(x+8)=8 => x=24.
Father age will be 72 and after 8 years he will be 80.
After further 8 more years he will be 88 and Roy will be 40.
i.e, father is 2.2 times of Roy's age - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- let son present age=x
f-s=3x=>f=4x
f+8=5/2(s+8)
2f=5s+24
8x=5x+24
3x=24
x=8
f=4*8=32
after 16 years f=48,s=24

- Roy age =x;
father age=3x;
After 8 year 3x+8= 5/2(x+8);
solve this we get x=24;
now after further 8 years roy is 40and father is 88
which is 11/5 times (88= 11/5(4));
answer is 11/5 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- F=3R
After 8 yr, F+8=(R+8)*2and1/2
=(R+8)*5/2
By this R=24,and F=72
After 16 year, R will (24+16)=40
F will (72+16)=88
88/40=2.2 times - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- father=f, son=s
father befor 8 year =3x
son befor 8 years=x
father now = 3x+8
son now= x+8
2.5(x+8) = 3x+8
x= 24
there for fathers age after 8 year =88
son age after 8 year = 40
so ratio is 40/88=2.2 - 3 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- let Roy age is 'x' years.so his father's age is 3x.
after 8 years,
therefore,roy age is 'x+8' his fathers age is 2 and half times ronit age
so
3x+8=5/2(x+8)
..x=24 fathers age =3(24)=72
after 8 years ronit age=32 and fathers age is 80
again after 8 years ronit age=40 and fathers age is 88
therefore fathers age is 2.2 times of ronit age. - 3 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
