If m+n gives remainder 8 and m-n gives remainder 6 when divided by 12, what is the remainder when mn is divided by 6 ?
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- m+n=8
m-n=6
solving simultn.v get m=7,n=1
mn=7*1=7
mn/6
7/6=1 remainder - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(28) No(3)
- If remainder when divided by 12 is 8 then remainder when divided by 6 will be 2... So now m+n wen dividd by 6 R=2 , (m-n)/6 then R=0.. so for m*n/6 R will be equal to 1 because consider example as m+n=14 wer m=13,n=1 which satisfies both conditions hence m*n=13 and wen divided by 6 R=1...... for all values of m and n which satisfy the m=n and m-n conditions remailder will be 1

- m+n=12x+8
m-n=12y+6
m=12(x+y)+14/2
n=12(x+y)+2/2
7*1/6
1 remainder

- take m+n as 8,
and m-n as 6, So that when these are divided by 12 gives reminders 8 and 6 resp.
now to find mn, (m-n)^2 = (m+n)^2 - 4mn,
therefore we get mn=7,
so by dividing mn=7 by 6 gives reminder as 1.

- guys use remainder thrm...i.e when m+n/12 leaves rem 8 means rem of m/12 + rem of n/12=8 and in m/12-n/12=6 so x+y=8
and x-y=6
x=rem of m/12
y=rem of n/12
find x and y i.e x=7,y=1
m*n/6=7*1/6=1

- m , n will always be prime no.
so check it out 1,3,5,7,11,13
take m=11 n=7
hence (11*7)%6=5ans. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(3)
