A triangle ABC has an area of 150 sq cm. The length of the largest side is 50 cm and smallest side is 10 cm. What will be the perimeter of the triangle

• ans: perimeter = 60 + 30√2 = 30(2+√2)= 102.43 cm
  
  let height of triangle wrt largest side be h cm
  
  then, area of triangle = 1/2 *base*height
  => 1/2 *50*h = 150
  => h = 6 cm
  
  this height will divide traingle in two right angled triangles
  
  base of smaller triangle = √(10^2-h^2)=√(10^2-6^2)= 8 cm
  so, base of larger traingle =(50-8)= 42 cm
  
  third side of triangle = √(42^2+h^2)= √(42^2+6^2)= 30√2 cm
  
  perimeter of the triangle = 50 + 10 + 30√2 = 60 + 30√2 = 30(2+√2)= 102.43 cm

• perimeter= 50+10+30√5=127.08 cm
  let the base be the smallest side, i.e 10 cm.
  then, area of triangle = 1/2 *base*height
  => 1/2 *10*h = 150
  => h = 30 cm
  now the length of the third side is = √(30^2+5^2) => √925 cm =>30√5cm=> 67.09cm
  now the perimeter of the triangle is = 50 +67.09 +10=127.08cm

  l=30;

• Rakesh is right he didn't say about right angle triangle. He meant draw a perpendicular on largest side the perpendicular is height and this makes right angle on base 50.

  1/2*50*height=150
