Of 38 people in my office, 10 like to drink chocolate,15 are cricket fans and 20 neither like chocolate nor like cricket, how many people like both cricket and chocolate?
a. 7
b. 10
c. 15
d. 18
Read Solution (Total 20)
-
- 20 neither like chocolate nor cricket
therefore,people likes either chocolate or cricket are+38-20=18
so, now pele like both=people like chocolate + peole likes cricke -
people like either chocolate or cricket
=10+15-18
=7
so,option a) is the correct ans.

- Total=10 like to drink chocolate+15 are cricket fans+20 neither like nor both
TOTAL=P[A]+P[B]-LIKE BOTH A AND B
AUB=P[A]+P[B]-[38-20]
=25-18
Ans=7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(18) No(0)
- 7 is the answer
this can be solved by set theory
let A be chocolate lovers
let B be the cricket lovers
let U be the total colleagues
A = 10
B = 15
U - A union B = 20
so, A union B = U - 20 = 38 - 20 = 18
Now, we need to find A intersection B
i.e.
A intersection B = A + B - A union B
=> 10 + 15 - 18
=> 7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(1)
- Total=10 like to drink chocolate+15 are cricket fans+20 neither like both
38=10+15+20
38=45
45-38=7
Ans:7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(1)
- 38-20=18
like chocolate 18-10=8
like cricket 18-15=3
like both chocolate and cricket 18-(8+3)=7
ans :7// - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- Let event A=people drinking chocolate
B=people liking cricket
so p(A)=10/38
p(B)=15/38
p(neither A nor B)=20/38
P(either A or B)= 1-20/38=18/38
P(both A and B)=10/38+15/38-18/38=7/38
So,people liking both cricket and chocolate=7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- lets remaining peaple=38-20=18
now 7+3=10
7+8=15
and 10+8=18=18(remaining people) so common is 7. - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
- a] 7
using venn diagram - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 7
no. of people who likes either is 38-20=18
no. of people who likes only cricket = 18-10=8
no of people who likes both = 15-8=7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 1st term 10 ,2nd 20 .... now in this way 10+20+40+80+160+320+640+1280=2550
and next 1s is 256 so 2550+256=2806
2s term is 512 so 2806+512=3318
so ans is 2 :)

- U=38
n(choc)=10
n(cric)=15
n(neither choc nor cric)=20
so, choc Union cric = U - n(neither choc nor cric)= 38-20=18
hence ,choc Intersection cric = n(choc)+ n(cric)-n(choc union cric)
=>10+15-18=7
Ans-->> 7
- 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Ans is 7
Total people=38
No of people like none=20
So no of people like either one thing=38-20=18
Probability of liking choc=10/38
Probability of cric=15/38
P of liking both =15/38+10/38-18/38=7/38
Therefore people liking both is 7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- people like either chocolate or cricket
=10+15-18
=7 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- n(Cricket)=15
n(choc)=10
number of people who either like chocolate or cricket = > n(Cricket U chocolate)= 38-20= 18
n(Cricket∩Choc)= n(Cricket)+n(Choc)-n(Cricket U Choc)
=> 15+10-18=7 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- n(AuB)=n(A)+n(B)-n(A&B)
