let age of peter is pe and paul is pa.
peter was as old as paul is now X year before.
pe-X=pa---1
then
pe=2(pa-X)---2
pa+pe=35---3
after solved 1,2,3
pe=20
pa=15

for this questions just use formule 7x/4 = sum of ages,

then 7x/4=35 => x=20

now age difference-x-y=y-x/2
x+y=35
x=20
y=15

diff of Peter ages = diff of paul ages

2x-(35-2x) = (35-2x)-x
.
. . x = 10
From the table present age of peter= 2x=2*10 =20 yrs

suppose paul is x years old
now when Peter is x years old then paul is x/2
now the present age of Paul And Peter is respectively x and (x+x/2)
now x+x+x/2=35
=>x=14
so Peter is 21 years old

short cut:
present age of Peter:7x/4=35
present age of Paul=:7x/3=35
we have to calculate present age of Peter =7x=35*4=20years

y-Paul's age

x+y=35

x=2(y-c) where c=x-y
Hence 3x=4y

Solving the equations
x=2= y=15
