there are 4 boxes.to select 2 boxes it is 4c2
to select red box or green box the possibility is only 1
so total combinations will be 4c2*1*1=6.

+sign as green or red and -1 because been and red and red and green is same combination

also,

1c1*2c1+1c1*2c1+2c2=2+2+1=5

we can select two out of 4 boxes in the following ways:
red,yellow
red,green
red,blue
yellow,green
yellow,blue
green,blue.
total 6 combinations possible.
out of these to be one green or red box to be selected is 5(as it includes the case of yellow,blue)

Total ways of selecting two boxes out of 4 is 4C24C2 = 6. Now, the number of ways of selecting two boxes where none of the green or red box included is only 1 way. (we select yellow and blue in only one way). If we substract this number from total ways we get 5 ways
