Present sum of ages = 56

If Father's present age = 40 yrs
Age of younger son = 7 yrs
Age of elder son = 9 yrs

-----

If Father's present age = 38 yrs
Age of younger son = 8 yrs
Age of elder son = 10 yrs .... so on

It is easy to solve this question with option.
let us consider...
2 yrs ago..->father age= 32,elder son age= 10 and younger son age =8
sum of their ages=50
to find their present age add 2
elder son=10+2=12
younger son=8+2=10
father =32+2=34
after 8 yrs their total=42+20+18=80
