If x is year of birth of R and y is year of birth of G, then

x+y= 3844
and
(1994-x)= 2*(1994-y)

solving it, we get
x= 1898 and y = 1946

if born year of r is R ,and g is G
so R+G=3844
and age of r in 1994 is double than that of g so we can write it as
1994-R = 2(1994-G)
1944-R = 2(1994-(3844-R)) from eq. (1)
this eq give the value of R , R=1898 born year of r's so age of r in 1994 is 96 year and in ques they ask the age in 1999 so the anw is 101 year old....

R is born in 1898 and G is born in 1946.

Age of R in 1999 will be 101 years.

ans. sould be 101,
the sum of teir age is 3844
so their born year sould be 1898 and 1946 so their total is 3844,
now count the age of R from 1898 to 1994 it is 96 and G's age from 1946 to 1994 it is 48, and R's age in 1999 should be 101.

Let, R's age in 1994 be x years.
G's age= x/2 years.
Now, Birth year of R =1994-x
Birth year of G =1994-x+(x/2)

Adding the above equations,
(1994+x)+(1994-x+(x/2))=3844
=> x=96
The age of R in 1994 is 96 years.
So, The age of R in 1999 is=96+5=101 years
