Two trains starting at same time, one from Bangalore to Mysore and other in opposite
direction arrive at their destination 1 hr and 4 hours respectively after passing each other.
How nuch faster is one train from other?

Solution

Let the time required to reach the meeting point is t,so the meeting point would be at a distance of u*t and v*t from the two stations.
Now according to the given condition u*t = v*4 and v*t = u*1
on taking the ratio of these 2 equations, we have u/v = 4v/u or u/v = 2/1

if two trains or bodies start at the same time from points A and B towards each other and after crossing they take a and b sec in reaching B and A respectively,then A speed : B speed =undr root b: undr root a.
so..ans wil be two times faster...

s=d/t which means 4:1 is the ratio of the speed!

If two trains (or bodies ) start at the station at the same time from points A and B towards respectively each other and after crossing they take a sec and b sec in reaching B and A respectively.. so (A's speed): (B's speed)= under root b : under root a.. So the answer will be under root 4: under root 1 .. = 2:1, therefore two times faster than the other train.
