let yr of birth of rohit=x and gf =y
x+y=3844
as,1994-x=1/2(1994-y)
solving,x=1946
so at 1999 rohit's age=1999-1946=53

we know that at the end of 1994 rohit was half the age of his grandfather
and the sum of the years in which they were born is 3844
so we do
3844-1994=1850
now
1994-1850=144
let age of rohit be x
so age of grandfather=2x
so x+2x=144
x=48
so year in which gf was born=1994-2(48)=1898
and for rohit 1994-48=1946
so if rohit was born in 1946 his age at the end of 1999 will be 53

let rohit age in 1999 be r
and gf age is gf(say)

before 4 yrs that is on 1995 (end of 1994)
rohit age= r-4
gnd father age= gf-4

now--
r-4=1/2(gf-4)-----eq 1

now for sum of ages...
(1999-r)+(1999-gf)=3844-----eq 2

on solving both we get r=53 so ans is 53(approx)

Let at the end of rohit's age= x years
Then Rohit's grandfather's age = 2x years
The year in which rohit was born = x-1994
The year in which grandfather was born = 2x-1994
According to question:-
1994-x+1994-2x=3844
So 3x=144
or x=48
And we assumed rohit's age at the end of 1994 = x= 48 years (As calculated)
So at the end of 1999 i.e. after 5 years rohit's age = 48+5= 53 years

i think answer is 53...rohit was born in 1946 and his garndfather was in 1898..

IN THE YEAR 1994, R=(1/2)GF ;
LET THEIR BIRTH YEARS OF ROHIT AND GF BE x & y.
So,

Rohit age = x-1994
GF age = y-1994

Given that
x+y=3884;
x-1994=(1/2)(y-1994)

solving these two we get the birth years of Rohit and GF as 1946 and 1898.

Rohit age @1999 is => 1999-1946=53.

Let Rohit's grandfather's age at the end of 1994 year = 2x years
Then at the end of 1994 rohit's age= x years (half of gf age)
The year in which rohit was born = x-1994
The year in which grandfather was born = 2x-1994
According to question:-
1994-x+1994-2x=3844
So 3x=144
or x=48
And we assumed rohit's age at the end of 1994 = x= 48 years (As calculated)
So at the end of 1999 i.e. after 5 years rohit's age = 48+5= 53 years
