let number be a & b

then (1/a)+(1/b)=(1/12)
(1/a) = (1/12)-(1/b)
a = 12b/(b-12)

if b=13 then a=156
if b=1 then a = -(12/11)
if b=3 then a= -4
and so on

1 / x + 1 / (x + 1) = 7 / 12
(x + 1 + x) / (x(x + 1)) = 7 / 12
12(2x + 1) = 7x(x + 1)
24x + 12 = 7x² + 7x
7x² – 17x - 12 = 0
(x – 3)(x + 4 / 7) = 0
x = 3, – 4 / 7

(x + 1 + x) / (x(x + 1)) = 7 / 12
12(2x + 1) = 7x(x + 1)
24x + 12 = 7x² + 7x
7x² – 17x - 12 = 0
(x – 3)(x + 4 / 7) = 0
x = 3, – 4 / 7

– 4 / 7 is not an integer, so we discard this solution.

If the smaller integer is 3, then the second must be 3 + 1 = 4

Answer: 3, 4.
