The work will not be completed...3/16 amount of work will be left even after everyone has left

(60*40) men complete the work in 1 day
1man's 1 day work is 1/60*40
60 men's 5 day work is 5*(1/40)=1/8
remaining work (1-1/8)=7/8
as 5 men leave
55 men's 1 day work=55*(1/60*40)=11/60*8
now
11/60*8 work done by them 1day
7/8 work done by them [(60*8)/11]*(7/8)=420/11=38.18
so they complete in (38.18+5) days{5 day added bcoz alrdy 5dy work had been done}
43.18 day total work will be completed.

Let the total work be 2400 (Product of 60 and 40) units of work. Let us assume 1 man does 1 unit of work in a single day.
So in 5 days, 60 men do 5*60 = 300 units of work. Pending work = 2100 units
From days 5­->10, 55 men do 5*55 = 275 units of work. Pending work = 1825 units
From days 10­->15, 50 men do 5*50 = 250 units of work. Pending work = 1575 units
In a similar fashion, after 20 days pending work = 1350 units, 25 days = 1150 units, 30 days = 975 units, 35 days = 825 units
36 ->­ 40 days (25 men) = 700 units, 41­->45 days(20 men) = 725 units, 46->­50 days (15 men) = 650 units, 51->­55 days (10 men) = 600 units,56­->60 days (5 men) = 575 units

Now as all men leave in the 60th day and still work is pending the work will never get completed

we know that 60 men has to work for 40 days
so total men-days =60*40=2400
60 men can work for 5 days=60*5=300 men-days
55 men can work for 5 days=55*5=275 men-days
50 men can work for 5 days=50*5=250 men-days
45 men can work for 5 days=45*5=225 men-days
40 men can work for 5 days=40*5=200 men-days
35 men can work for 5 days=35*5=175 men-days
30 men can work for 5 days-30*5=150 men-days
25 men can work for 5 days=25*5=125 men-days
20 men can work for 5 days=20*5=100 men-days
15 men can work for 5 days=15*5=75 men-days
10 men can work for 5 days=10*5=50 men-days
5 men can work for 5 days=5*5=25 men-days
so total work done=300+275+250+225+200+175+150+125+100+75+50+25=1950
hence work to be done=2400-1950=450 men-days
so work will not be completed

after every 5 days , 5 people left,after 40 days, the remaining persons are 20
i.e. 60-(5*8)=20
also, 60 persons worked for 32 days,
so now, 60 persons worked for 32 days
and remaining 20 persons will finish the work in x days
solving u will get 96 days
ans=96

Total men days = 60 *40 = 2400 men-days.

60 men work for 5 days = 300 men days
55 men work for 5 days = 275 men days
50 men work for 5 days = 250 men days.
45 men work for 5 days = 225 men days
40 men work for 5 days = 200 men days.
35 men work for 5 days = 175 men days
30 men work for 5 days = 150 men days.
25 men work for 5 days = 125 men days
20 men work for 5 days = 80 men days.
15 men work for 5 days = 75 men days
10 men work for 5 days = 50 men days.
05 men work for 5 days = 25 men days

Total men days till now = 300+275+250+...+50+25 = 1930 men days.
Rest men days = 2400 - 1930 = 470 men days.
Now 5 men needs to do 470 men days in 5 days which is not possible as there is not much man power.

Hence, it cannot be completed.

HERE FOR EACH AND EVERY 5 DAYS 20% OF WORK IS GETTING COMPLETED. SO I THOUGHT OF DOING LIKE THIS,
2400/20=120 DAYS
