(100/96)*(108/100)=27/24
36*24/27=32

simple yar consider 1$=100 rupees
36 oranges for 96 rupees(since 4%loss)
so ? oranges for 108 rupees
36----96

ans is (36*96)/108=32 oranges;

100-4/36=100+8/x
=40.5rs

see in such type of questions u have to look for a net gain or net loss.
now from coming to a gain of 8% from a loss of 4%=we have an overall gain of 4%
so now think,
he is selling 36 oranges for $1
so for having a gain of 4% you have to sell the same36 oranges in [1-1*4/100]=$0.96
so now if we sell 36 oranges in $0.96 for having a profit of 4%,
we have to sell (36/0.96) oranges in $1 for having a profit of 4%
thus total 37.5 oranges must be sell in $1 to get a profit of 4%....
