2893 key strokes are needed to type nos fom 1 to 1000
numbers 1 to 9 require 1*9=9 key strokes
numbers 10 to 99 require 2*90=180 key strokes
numbers 100 to 999 require 3*900=2700 key strokes
number 1000 needs 4 key strokes
so adding them all 9+180+2700+4=2893 strokes

(1*9)+(2*90)+(3*899)+(1*4)=2890
