if length is l and width is b then area=l*b
now new l and b is 2l and 2b respectively.
so new area is=4*l*b
% increase= 300%

let length=l..breadth=b
original area=l*b
inc. length=l+l=2l..breadth=b+b=2b
now inc. in area=2l*2b=2(l*b)=l*b + l*b
hencethere is 100% inc. in new area

Let the length of the rectangle = l
Let the breadth of the rectangle = b
Then the area of the rectangle(A) = length x Breadth
= l*b
According to the question,
Length = l + 100/100*l
= l+l
= 2l
Breadth = b + 100/100*b
= b+b
= 2b
New Area(A') = length x breadth
= 2l x 2b
= 4lb
= 4A
Increase in area = 4A-A
= 3A
Increase percentage = Increase in amount/Original Amount*100 %
= 3A/A*100 %
= 300%

Therefore area is increased by 300%

length is double then
(2*l)*(2*b)=area;
so its 4 time of area.

area of rectangle is 2(l+b)
now by 100% increase ie 2 times we get 2(2l+2b)=2(2(l+b))
hence area increases 2 times ie 100%

let length be x and breadth be y..so area= xy
now sides increased by 100%...
new length=x+100/100(x)
=2x
new breadth=y+100/100(y)
=2y
so new area =4xy
now % increase in area =[(4xy-xy)/xy]*100
=300%
