sorry guys i din't read question properly....... :(

jake has covered 9 km till 13.30
and he has be 3 km behind paul so net distance= 9+3 = 12km
relative speed= 2km/h
therefore time = 12/2 = 6 hrs
i.e 13.30+ 6 = 19.30hrs(ans)

at 1430 jake travels 15km from his house and paul will be 8km
at 1530 jake:21km paul:16km
at 1630 jake:27km paul:24km
so at 1630 paul will be 3km behind jake ans is 1630

at 14.30 jake covered 15km while paul covered 8km in total.
at 15.30 jake covered 21km while paul covered 16km in total.

First ,let us calculate the time at which Paul catches Jake...
To catch Jake,both has to cover equal distance...
6*x=8*(x-3/2),where x is the time taken from 12:00 hrs at which paul overtakes jake
x=6 hrs from 12 i.e 18:00 hrs
At 18:00 hrs both are at same point...
Next,we have to take the difference of distance b/w the two as 3km
therefore,8(x)-6(x)=3,where x is the time taken from 18:00 hrs
Hence x=1hr 30 minutes
Therfore total time taken=18+1hr 30min=19:30

jake has covered 9 km till 13.30
relative speed= 2km/h
now paul follows and has to cover 9-3= 6km distance with relative speed 2km/hr
therefore time = 6/2= 3hr = 13.30+3= 16.30hr(ans)

after 6hour from 13.30 that means at 19.30 hours jake will be behind 3km from pauls

Jake starts at 12 pm with 6 kmph. Hence till 1.30 pm he will cover 9 km. Now at 1.30 pm Paul starts with 8 kmph, i.e. with 4 km per half an hour. When Paul starts, he and Jake are already 9 km apart. Now, at 2 pm, Paul will cover 4 km and Jake 3 km more than previous, i.e. total 12 km and now they are 8 km apart. Proceeding this way,taking into account half hourly calculations,we get, the following table,
Name 2:30 pm 3:00 pm 3:30 pm 4:00 pm 4:30 km
Jake 15 km 18 km 21 km 24 km 27 km
Paul 8 km 12 km 16 km 20 km 24 km
Thus, answer is 4:30 pm as 27-24=3km.

it is 19.30 hrs..because he is asking when will jake be 3 km behind paul..not paul is 3km behind jake, at 16.30 paul is 3 km behind jake..answer: 19:30 hrs

By the time P starts J is 1.5 hr x 6 = 9 km away from his house.

J is 3 km behind when P is 3 km ahead of him.

ie.,

P has to cover 12 km.

So,

He takes 12 / (8 - 6) = 6 hrs after 13.30.

So,

The required time is 19.30Hrs
