Divide the series:
1,2,3
2,4,6
4,8,?
so it is 12

break the series into three portion such that:
(1,2,3),(2,4,6),(4,8,?)
now simply multiply the first set of each number with 2 to get the second set of number
(1*2,2*2,3*2) =(2,4,6)
similarly multiply the second set of each number with 2 to get the third set of number
(2*2,3*2,6*2)=(4,8,12)
so the final answer would be 12.

Add 1to the next two series and subtract 1 and repeat for 2 and subtract 2 then adding 4to 4then 8 to 4=12
1+1=2,2+1=3,3-1=2,2+2=4,4+2=6,6-2=4,4+4=8,8+4=12 is answer

so 1*2 = 2

and

so

The given sequence of numbers is actually made by joining 3 series like shown below.
First Series is formed by = 1st number, 4th number, 7th number
Second Series is formed by = 2nd number, 5th number , 8th number
Third Series is formed by = 3rd number, 6th number, 9th number
So the three series would look like:
1, 2, 4
2, 4, 8
3, 6, ?

Next number for each series is = 2 * previous number.
Hence for 3rd series 6*2 = 12

12, the series is 1,2,3,2,4,6,4,8,---,left 1 consider second and third terms 2,3 again fourth term is same as second ,fifth term is twice the second , sixth term is twice the third ,seventh term repeated as same as fifth term like that
