Ans:94
total marks in 8 subject=87*8=696
total marks of 6 subject=85*6=510
marks in remaining 2 sub=696-510=186
now ,
let 2nd highest marks be :x
so highest marks is:x+2
x+x+2=186
so x=92
so highest marks= 92+2=94 Ans.

It can be solved in simple way (without envolving complicated multiplications)

avg marks of 8 sbjcts =87

after removing marks of 2 consecutive highest marks subjects
avg of 6 sbjcts = 85
total score removed in removing 2 subjects = 2*6(2 marks from each of 6 subjects's score) + 87 +87 = 186

difference between highest and 2nd highest score is 2
so, x + x + 2 =186
x = 92
highest score = 92+ 2 =94

let sum of all is x
so x=87*8=696
now let sum of 6 is y and y=85*6=510
let next value is n
so y+n+(n+2)=696
510+n+n+2=696
2n=696-512=184
so n=92
higest is 92+2=94 ans

Total marks of 8 students=87*8=696
similarly when we eliminate two subject then the remaining marks of 6 students is=85*6=510
then difference=696-510=>186
i'e lowest marks is x then highest marks will be x+2.
so,x+x+2=186
2x=186-2
2x=184
x=92.
so,highest marks will be 92+2=>94
