Case-1: For the first time take three on each side and weigh them. If the balance is not equal, take the lesser side 3 balls and now from the three balls, place one on left and another one on right and keep one aside and weigh, if the balance is not equal then the hallow one is on the lesser side of the balance, if they are equal the third one which we kept aside will be the hallow ball. Case-2: If the pointer points to centre of the balance that means the hallow ball is not on both sides. Now go for the remaining two balls and place them on both sides and weigh. One of them must be a hallow one. The hallow ball will be less weight so we can easily identify it.
