Let , A be the birth date and B the month. So we can write as,

31A+ 12B = 494 --> 1
31A = 494 - 12B --> 2

Now we know that there are 12 month in a year so we can check the values of B = 1,2,3...... and so on

Both value must be a positive integer, so the value of B for which A comes as positive integer, will satisfy the equation 2 and it will be our solution.

Case 1: Let B = 1, then A = 15.54 (Not an integer )

Case 2: Let B = 2, then A = 15.16 (Not an integer )

Case 3: Let B = 3, then A = 14.77 (Not an integer )

Case 4: Put B = 4, then A = 14.38 (Not an integer )

Case 5: Let B = 5, then A = 14 (It is a pure integer value)

Put these values in equation 1

31(14) + 12(5) = 494

The above Value satisfies. So the ans is "14 May".

Let D be the date and M be the month.
So the question will be written as
31D + 12M = 494
12A = 494 - 31M

Now we know the factor of 12 is 3 and 4
So let check the value by putting the value of M
case a: M=odd
like 1,3,5,7,9,11......
31*1=31
494-31=463
because 463 is not divisible by 4
because last two digit is not divisible by 4 & sum of digit is not divisible by 3
So neglect the odd numbers of M
case b: even numbers
2 31*2=62 494-62=432
432/12=38 is not a month month should be
