One because we can weigh it by 1kg at a time.

5 times,
first 1kg weight=1kg rice
then put the 1kg rice with the weight,and that makes a 2 kg weight. measure the next 2kg of rice using this weight and put the measured 2 kg of rice with the weight, that makes a 4 kg weight.repeat this process until the weight is 16 kg. measure another 16 kg of rice that means a total of 32 kg. out of which 1 kg is the weight stone. so you will end up with 32-1=31 kg of rice.

there are total 5 ways.
we have only one kg of weight so,
2kg=1kg+1kg
4=1+2+1
8=1+2+4+1
16=1+2+4+8+1
31=1+2+4+8+16

If you weight the 1kg rice one by one then we used this one kg of weight stone.
And if you weight 31kg rice at a time then we required 30 kg of weight stone and (one kg of weight stone this is given to the questions).

with one stone kg rice will be weighted after using one kg rice and one kg stone two kg rice can be weighted so on......
