What is the probability of obtaining a perfect square for 4-digit number...???
This was the actual question asked.

Soln: Total no of 4 digits that can be formed= 9*10*10*10=9000
Smallest 4 digit number= 1000
Largest 4 digit number = 9999
Now we have to check how many numbers have their square falling under this range (1000 to 9999)

(31)^2 = 961 1000
So squares of number from 32 to 99 fall under this range.
Total numbers= 68
Total 4 digit numbers = 9000

So, P(E)= 68/9000 =17/2250.

There is only 1 four digits perfect number 8128( starting from 6, 28, 496, 8128). Total 4 digits number=9*10^3
Probability=1/(9*10^3)
