The answer is 40.

Let me explain this -
Total = Interchanged Position + Original Position from the right - 1.

Therefore here on putting the values, we get :

18 + 23 - 1 + 40.

Abhi is 15th from the left so there are 15 girls left to Abhi. Now Suchi is 23rd from right so there are 23 girls to the right to Suchi. Now when they swap their positions, Abhi becomes the 18th girl from Left. That means there are 3 girls in between Abhi and Suchi. So the total number of girls are (15+3+23)=41.

Its 40. let me denote each girl with g* In the row. It is as follows

from abhi pos :

g1,g2,g3,g4,g5,g6,g7,g8,g9,g10,g11,g12,g13,g14,g15(Abhi)

Now from Suchi pos:
(Suchi)g23,g22,g21,g20,g19,g18,g17,g16,g15,g14,g13,g12,g11,g10,g9,g8,g7,g6,g5,g4,g3,g2,g1
After interchanging
g1,g2,g3,g4,g5,g6,g7,g8,g9,g10,g11,g12,g13,g14,g15=Suchi,g16,g17,[g18(Abhi)=g23(from right)],
Therefore total is till g17: It's 17. After then there are 23 more.. so it's 40
