The speed should be 50 kmph and 60kmph:

The second train has traveled 120km more than the first train...
Now the speed of the trains A and B are 50 and 60 kmph resp.

Therefore, B travels (60-50)or 10 kmph more than A.

Now 120 divided by 10 is 12.....that means both the trains
runs for 12 hrs

Now the speed of the trains A and B are 50 and 60 kmph resp.

Now 120 divided by 10 is 12.....that means both the trains
runs for 12 hrs.

So, A travelled =50 * 12 =600 kms.
&, B travelled =60 * 12 =720 kms.

Let time=Chesi
60x-59x=x=120
Distance from A to B =120(60+59)=1320

when two objects travel towards each other and distance of one object is given and to find another distance with the help of two speeds of an two objects are

(s1+s2/s1-s2)*d=(50+60/10)*120=1320
Here A's speed =50 question is wrong

The question is wrong .the speed for the slower car should be 50 kmph.Rest is cake walk

In question the speed of A is 59kmph.....by that calculation the answer is 1536kms

there is correction in the question speed of car A is 50 kmph .
now using formula [ V = D/T ].
LET they reach at a point by travelling for same time T ,
THEN, at time "T" the car A travel (x/50)
now car B travel in time "T" (120+x)/60.
so equating both we get

x/50 = 120+x /60 => x = 600 km

so distance between A and B is ( x+ 120+x ) = 600+120+600 = 1320 km
so distance = 1320 km

if we take speed of first car as 50kmph then,
(120+x)/60 = x/50
50(120) + 50x = 60x
6000 = 60x-50x
6000 = 10x
x = 600 km
hence total distance = 120 + x + x
= 120 + 600 + 600
= 1320 km

A travelled 50*12=600 Kms
B travelled 60*12=720kms
So the Distance travelled A and B is 600+720=1320 kms

A speed=50kmph
B speed=60kmph
now If B had travelled x km then A had travelled 120+x
so 120+x/x=60/50
x=600 i.e B
x+120=720 i.e A
now A+B=600+720=1320
